Useful tips:

The United Arab Emirates is a very open, safe, muslim country, different from Saudi-Arabia. Women have no problems, to travel alone in this country. The U.A.E. is a country with low criminality.

The Eastcoast is not a touristy place. Therefore you should dress yourself properly going outside of the hotel. It means, your shoulders and knees should be covered.

Wearing shorts and a tank-shirt means, you are walking around in your underwear!

In Dubai you will find a Duty free in the arrival hall next to the place where you pick up your luggage. If you like to buy alcohol, you should buy it there (two liters liquors and two liters of wine are allowed per person). You can only buy alcoholics in the hotels, depending on the Emirate's law. In the Emirate Sharjah and Emirate Ras al Khaimah alcohol is forbidden.

"Eid al Adha", celebrating the pilgrimage to Mekka.

Ramadan in U.A.E.:.

During this month you should not eat, drink or smoke in public, til the sun is going down (usually around 5.30 pm). The restaurants are closed during daytime, only in some hotels (depends on the restrictions of the Emirate) you get something to eat. The supermarkets are open all day and almost night long, except the time between 5pm and 7pm, when the moslems will have "Iftar", their breakfast!

"Eid al Fitr": This is the time, where the muslims in U.A.E. will have their festive nights and days, a pretty noisy time! During these days, Holiday  Beach Motel is fully booked. A lot of them are locals, who are celebrating.

The arabs are very hospitable people. Often you see them sitting close to the road on a carpet, drinking tea and chatting together.
